What We Believe
For Family-School-Community Partnership (FSCP) strategies to realize their full potential, we must establish shared responsibility across all levels of leadership. These efforts drive meaningful outcomes. By partnering with us, stakeholders at all levels will experience stronger connections, enhanced collaboration, and improved outcomes for families, schools, and communities.
Where We Come From
We belong to the national network of Statewide Family Engagement Centers (SFEC) through the Department of Education. SFEC enhances collaboration and communication between schools, families, and communities.
Project Goals
The overarching goals of this project are to:
-
Develop clear expectations and guidance around implementing evidence-based FSCP practices and structures at the state, district, and school building level.
-
Increase implementation of FSCP practices and structures at each of these levels by cultivating the mindsets and skills of leadership and staff.
-
Equip families with the self-belief, knowledge, and skills to fully realize their potential as academic partners and active collaborators in decision-making.
What We Do
We focus on four key levers for Colorado:
Resources
FSCP Resources are available to stakeholders across CO and include print materials, web-based content, and research-based Family-School-Community Partnership (FSCP) resources. Our goal is to ensure educators and families across Colorado can access tools and strategies to foster robust family school partnerships.
Training
Our training programs are designed to equip stakeholders with the knowledge and resources needed for high impact family engagement. We train educators on high-impact Family-School-Community Partnership (FSCP) strategies. We provide district and state level training on the foundational aspects of FSCP such as research-based approaches and reframing strategies. Through our trainer-of-trainer programs, district leaders learn to disseminate these strategies to drive system-level change. Additionally, we empower families by helping them explore various leadership roles they can play at the school, district and community levels.
Coaching
We provide comprehensive coaching to FSCP leaders, helping them create the systems and conditions necessary for partnerships to thrive. This includes collaborating with leadership teams to develop and implement policies that elevate and integrate FSCP practices across state units. For school and district leaders, we offer personalized coaching sessions designed to foster their growth and provide tailored guidance to build and strengthen FSCP infrastructure within their schools and districts.
Collaborative Networks
We build and support collaborative networks of professionals to strengthen capacity in the field. School administrators and educators engage in collaborative leadership with families to identify and address opportunities and challenges at the school level. Families actively participate as collaborative partners, working with school staff and administrators to shape leadership and address the needs of their school communities. We empower Colorado families to play a meaningful role in decision-making at both the school and district levels. Additionally, units across the Colorado Department of Education work together to integrate FSCP practices throughout the state agency.
